Irtijal brings you music from the fringe and allows you to discover other dimensions in music. Founded in 2000 by Mazen Kerbaj and Sharif Sehnaoui to promote contemporary & experimental practices in music, Irtijal is today the oldest music festival in Beirut.
It is organized by MILL, a non-profit association, that aims to assist projects that do not fit into the Lebanese musical mainstreams despite their undeniable artistic value.
The evening ended with one of the festival’s most adventurous concerts, matching Tripoli’s Osman Arabi’s entrancing sound with Shazzula’s unclassifiable music to accompany the latter’s new movie: Black Mass Rising a dark and powerful journey into the untold realms of our imagination.

Great spooky freaky tranced out heavy shit. Everything takes its time, likely sounds great on mushrooms. Guitars are thick like lava that leads to the center of everything, vocals deranged just enough to make you wonder if this is gonna end badly.

Un rite, ça se déroule en respectant toute une série de règles et de préceptes ancestraux ; la transe ne s'obtient pas dans l'instant mais avec des paroles et des gestes répétés. Bref : pour accéder au royaume sombre, il faut prendre le temps. Là où Wolvennest est incroyable, c'est qu'il atteint cet objectif en même pas trente minutes sur Vortex. Le doom metal psychédélique atteint les sphères atmosphériques (la piste éponyme est presque spatiale) et Shazzula mène son office avec grandeur !
